“Fragments of Solace” is a cyberpunk thriller set in the dystopian city of Proxima. The story explores a society starkly divided by class, where the wealthy elite enhance themselves with corporate-manufactured robotic limbs from XIAN Corporation, while the impoverished masses struggle to survive in the grim underbelly, particularly the lawless Lantern District. The central conflict ignites when a desperate father’s public attack on XIAN spirals into a coordinated, violent assault on the corporation’s headquarters, unravelling a deeper conspiracy involving weaponised pharmaceuticals, political machinations, and the dark truths behind the city’s “progress.”
The narrative follows Kimoni, a XIAN security head and survivor of the attack, who is physically and psychologically scarred by the event. Grappling with trauma and equipped with a new, hyper-sensitive fused arm, he is pulled into a clandestine investigation by competing powers: his corporate boss, who seeks a human “strategist” behind the attack, and a former colleague from the city’s security force, who points him toward a new, lethal drug variant. His quest for the truth forces him to descend into the city’s darkest corners, where he confronts his own past failures, systemic injustice, and the fragile, often illusory, nature of solace in a world built on control and decay.
